RC my distant beloved <3 I still don't have it, so do tell me how you find it in battles! I'm very close to getting another chest in Xspace Echo and I can decide if I want to get Relentless Conqueror or R1 one of my Abysswalker cards

RC, hmmm.
His shield break is VERY wide which is great. Once he does that move, everything he's hit will instantly charge him, ignoring the girlfriend, so there's about three seconds where, if everything was relatively close together originally, they'll all clump up and you can do some pretty fast devastation on all the monsters. BUT -- its not as easy as Abysswalker which chains everything instantly so you have to be patient for those couple of seconds for the clump to form. he doesn't have any very hard to deal with conditions, but he always seems to drop his Dark Energy orbs in terrible places so trying to get them and keep up the flow of combat can be a trick. Abysswalker's fishtail beacons pretty much drop right on the enemy he's attacking so they feel much easier to grab without having to reposition a lot. I like it, but it feels very... i don't want to say subpar because its not, but it does feel like its running on a ruleset that's been superceded by now with more complex companions. the battle aethestics themselves are on point, but his outfit is not doing it for me so that kind of brings it down a little. I enjoyed Farspace Colonel a lot better, both mechanically and visually to be honest. I'm holding for Abysm Sovereign if I'm going to plunk anything down on solar cards for Sylus. I hope that companion turns up in Abyssal Chaos between now and then so I can play with it and see if it's more my thang than Relentless Conqueror. ![]()

People talk about AS as the real beast among all the LIs' companions. It's commonly used to bruteforce levels, and you can build it with protocores to be stupidly overpowered.
It's also good to consider what kind of protocore builds you're already grinding based on the companions you use. AS scales on HP, standard companions go with ATK, and Sea God goes with DEF. Getting AS would mean grinding another entire set of protocores for that alone. ![]() Time goes by but memories rewind

That is a good point, i hadn't thought of that (re/protocore requirements)
I guess in the main, after having checked my innards, i am not too worried about a grind to level stuff. that all comes with time and i expect i'll be here a bit, banging things out slowly. having a set of ATK, HP and DEF cores (considering i don't even have enough to fill out a decent ATK set yet because of being stalled on advancing the Disambiguation areas because I've been using stamina for ascending cards) seems like A Good Project For Down The Pike. I can always revisit later! And Absym Sovereign isn't until what, November? I got time! so. so much time. ![]()

Yeah! Also the grind to battle thing is not necessarily something you have to do for orbits. Sure, open orbits are fun and give you a bit of diamonds for each level, but they're a whale game after a certain point because they require a full set of ascended cards with maxed out protocores.
Individual orbits give you affinity, but those too at a certain point will stall because you need to build your cards and your protocores (and you only have 3 days a week to try 3 levels). Veterans say that if you're not a battle girlie who slashes and dashes for the fun of it, then all your grinding should have the Senior Hunter Contest as main goal. That will be your main source of diamonds, and reaching 33/36 stars (at which point you get all the rewards) is what will allow a steady influx of diamonds at every reset. I know that you're not even close to that yet (same), but it's a way to know where to pour your energies and why. ![]() Time goes by but memories rewind
