IMO it all depends on how obsessed you are with the game. Does it spark joy? Let it consume you then.
But if you know it's something that maybe will feel more like a chore once the honeymoon period ends and you have so many different things to juggle, then it might be better to leave it alone so that the time you'll want to dedicate to it will be pragmatically focused on actually playing it.
A compromise would be to use something that is already online so that you're not starting from scratch. For example the fandom wikia has many of the cards already organized with pictures and sometimes even transcripts. You could use that as basis to speed up your work
