Ok I'm on mobile so the info I'm able to give you is not going to be great but it will still be something.
The basic concept is that you have two missions (the two main tabs in abyssal chaos, the first one being finding tobias), and a fuckton of companions to do them with. In fact, each LI will have all the different combat versions you have. You'll notice some companions are gold, those are the limited companions that cycle through each run of abyssal chaos. It's a good way to test them, on top of being very strong.
Every time you play AC you do that with your best cards already maxed out.
As you might have already seen, each of the two missions has multiple branches and endings. You're expected to finish them all (there's a walkthrough guide on reddit to reach all the endings, it can get confusing. I'll link it to you once I'm back on the computer) with all your companions. As you take them through the missions again and again they will level up.
You might be wondering: OK but doesn't that get repetitive very soon?
Yes, yes it does. Tobias has its own level grinding you go through, but once you complete that you'll be stuck on the second mission which has a lot more levels with rewards (you gain levels by redoing the mission over and over, it doesn't get more difficult), but is capped at 2000 exp per run.
What do you do if you have already leveled up all your companions and have reached the max amount of exp you can get for the current run of AC? You collect everything else.
Cards, codes, items, Incidents (as you go through the mission, at times it will make you choose between battles and Incidents - Incidents are little side quests that can give you more items, codes, etc.). You are supposed to collect them all for all companions, and it will give you diamonds the more you find. Which is why you should always choose new cards and codes.
From the main page in AC you'll see on the right the buttons for the codes/cards etc. You'll see your completion status then.
Even though the mission is the same, each LI will tackle it differently making it feel new. Instead, it will be the same for all the different forms of your companion, so once you have 100% the mission with one, you can replay it by skipping and automating the battles.
