It's absolutely normal that it went over your head! What you read in the Timelock Key event is supposed to make sense once you already know the character's lore (mainly Anecdotes, Bonds, Myths, World Underneath), because what they do is repeat what you already know and then add a few tiny bits that make you go "wait...WAIT"
Without all those points of reference already in place, the texts are obscure to the point of being almost nonsensical.
