(we come for the) World Down Under(neath) - ChicletPrime - 07-20-2025 Chapter 1: Longly Flame ("longly"? really? I am really thinking thats a typo that's never been corrected to Lonely)
This is satisfying. I love stories I can read. If Zayne was using himself in his experiments/as an experimental model, was that his heart then encased/intertwined with crystal? was that a cause or an effect? did Zayne gives himself Protocore Syndrome trying to work with protocores? but what is Protocore Syndrome anyways, when we had it too and were unstable until we got the second half of our aether core, which "fixed" us. We still have a crystalline mass embedded in our heart but its (apparently) no longer a problem. RE: (we come for the) World Down Under(neath) - Coldsaturn - 07-20-2025 Wohoooooooo let's goooo Oh this will be a thread where your head will explode a bit. Can't wait. - "I am really thinking thats a typo that's never been corrected to Lonely" Same. Or a reference to the fact that Zayne is a long boi. idk OK, I'm about to hit you with a big Zayne Timeline covering the years from his birth to the moment he meets MC again once she becomes a hunter. Everything is covered in his anecdote "Never-Ending Winter", his bonds, Main Story, and the TimeLock Key event during Death&Rebirth (where you had the text accompanying images. The last chapter of the timelock key refers to the fractal library, which references his limited myth. Zayne's timelock key is here) 2021 September - Zayne is born 2022 (1) 2023 (2) 2024 (3) 2025 (4) 2026 (5) 2027 (6) 2028 (7) 2029 (8) 2030 (9) 2031 (10) 2032 (11) 2033 (12) 2034 [Chronorift Catastrophe early in the year. He meets her during the Catastrophe but she forgets (Bond: Nostalgic Sweetness). Grandma officially introduces Zayne to MC after she adopts her.] Summer - He almost kills MC - He starts having dreams of Dawnbreaker. (13 after September, so when the accident with MC happens he's still 12). They visit the zoo, then he moves away. ((MC is 7-8)) 2035 Skyhaven University Medical School (14) 35th cohort 2036 (15) 36th 2037 (16) 37th 2038 (17) 38th 2039 (18) 39th 2040 (19) Dr. Noah says the university's cafeteria was renovated - Ghost in the office (Zayne in the laboratory researching protocores applied to cardiac surgery). "I don't want to be incapable of doing anything again when I become a threat to her." A few days later Zayne destroys what he discovered and all that led to it and leaves the research group. 40th 2041 (20) 41st 2042 (21) 42nd 2043 graduates Skyhaven University Medical School. Starts working in the Division of Cardiac Surgery at Linkon Central Hospital. (22) 43rd 10 years since he's started having Dawnbreaker's dreams. Mt.Eternal "Years ago, I almost killed someone important. I lost control of my Evol." 2044 (23) 44th 2045 (24) 45th 2046 Starcatcher Awardee, Linde Award Winner (25) 46th 2047 (26) 47th -- He meets Dr.Noah and they attend the first year medical student oath ceremony. Noah asks him if he's visited her yet, he says no. 2048 CURRENT TIME (Zayne age 27) Zayne becomes MC's doctor since Dr.Noah is retiring (we'll meet him at his home up in the mountains during the main story) MC accidentally meets Zayne (Bond: A frozen Promise) 6 months later MC becomes a Hunter, MAIN STORY STARTS Unclear date: When William's girlfriend visits Zayne and asks him to say hi to Dr.Noah. It should technically be around 2043 or 2044 because when he receives his award in 2046 (Anecdote), he places it next to William's badge that his girlfriend had given him (World Underneath). But even though she talks like he's going to attend the first-year student's oath that same year, we only get the narration of him meeting Dr.Noah at the oath in 2047. - "leave the group too" I took it to mean that not only Zayne had destroyed his part of the research, but he's also leaving the research group entirely. - "why would Zayne destroy any data?" Because of what he found. The results were impossible to accept, and he destroyed the evidence. The Timelock Key event is useful to see what happens when he was 12, the aftermath and his path moving forward, what happens when he reaches a breakthrough in his research during university, then once he becomes a doctor. The last chapter is about the fractal library and as I was saying, it references his limited myth. It 's important to understand protocore syndrome though, or at least the part about the black crystals growing out of the body. RE: (we come for the) World Down Under(neath) - ChicletPrime - 07-21-2025 are you... are you telling me Zayne went to medical school, age FOURTEEN? I got the impression that re/the first year oath ceremony(ies) were something that Zayne would attend as often as possible, along with William and that Dr Noah always did them (being "retired" or at least more available). i haven't (obviously) gotten to anything that specifically gives explanations about the black crystals, just that they appear constantly in Zayne's dreams/nightmares and appear in Dawnbreaker's world, during the Thorns Under The Moon sideslip chapter. I am definitely looking forward to anything that goes over it in more detail because (for me) it's been teased FOREVER in his storyline. RE: (we come for the) World Down Under(neath) - Coldsaturn - 07-21-2025 Zayne's timeline in particular has enough explicit dates in it that yes, it's difficult to confute that this guy went to university at 14 because math has to math. We are explicitly told he's 27 in 2048, and we are explicitly shown in the main story (MC looks at a panel that has Zayne's curriculum on it) that he went to university from 2035 to 2043. Out of all the supernatural creatures in this sci-fi world, Zayne is the one that really tests my suspension of disbelief lol Yeah, same for me, it sounded like something Zayne would go to every year, so maybe he does go the same year that William's girlfriend visits him, but we're not shown that. Instead we skip to 2047 and follow that specific reunion. If you've read the Timelock Key event cards for Zayne then the last one would talk about the black crystals. If you haven't read it yet, then just know that both in there and in his limited myth they'll be lore-described. RE: (we come for the) World Down Under(neath) - ChicletPrime - 07-21-2025 the "timelock key" stuff you're talking about is those keys you buy with Chocolates, right? if so, my Chocolates have been prioritized for "all of Caleb's poses" up til now and i am just about to start tackling Sylus' :P priorities, darling, priorities. RE: (we come for the) World Down Under(neath) - Coldsaturn - 07-21-2025 No no the Timelock Key event is the one that ran together with the release of the new main chapter Death&Rebirth. It's the one with the artful drawings related to Sylus and Zayne with cryptic text overlay detailing their story. You collected the images (we talked about the Sylus ones!) in one thread somewhere around in the forum. If you click on the link I put in the post here with Zayne's yearly calendar, you'll recognize what I'm talking about! The keys you buy with the chocolate currency unlock the chapters in the Touring In Love event, which is permanently available to you in the Event list page :) RE: (we come for the) World Down Under(neath) - ChicletPrime - 07-21-2025 ohhhh. okay, i read them at the time but i know that most of it kind of glossed right past me. i will go back and re-read them again with my extra four weeks of knowledge, or whatever its been. man, it feels like forever ago those came out and that is big fat lie, it was like, last month. RE: (we come for the) World Down Under(neath) - Coldsaturn - 07-21-2025 It's absolutely normal that it went over your head! What you read in the Timelock Key event is supposed to make sense once you already know the character's lore (mainly Anecdotes, Bonds, Myths, World Underneath), because what they do is repeat what you already know and then add a few tiny bits that make you go "wait...WAIT" Without all those points of reference already in place, the texts are obscure to the point of being almost nonsensical. RE: (we come for the) World Down Under(neath) - ChicletPrime - 07-22-2025 okay, took a little bit of time out to (re)watch the Timelock Key entries for Zayne that you linked. Some of it kind of remains beyond me, but this (hah!) crystallized: He clutches the key to reversing life and death. Resolved, he closes that door without any regrets. Yet that alien darkness has already taken root in his soul. whatever he found in his research, EVER would peel him apart to get, but whatever he saw, he shredded it behind him and walked away. an answer, but not THE answer? since i'm a fan of ambiguous wordplay, does "reversing life and death" mean turning life into death (normal, happens to all of us eventually) and death into life (resurrection! hallelejah! -or- oh god, zombies, kill it with fire) OR does it mean instead of life --> death in the normal order, literally reversing the flow of the arrow of time and giving us death --> life. RE: (we come for the) World Down Under(neath) - Coldsaturn - 07-22-2025 I think the correct answer to your questions is: yes? |
