It also tragically renders the fluff and wholesomeness that we get with their developed romantic relationships not entirely canon, since there's a real chance we won't be getting that future because of MC's and EVER's actions in the main story. I don't know, it's a theory I dust off from the shelf whenever I need to explain some major plot inconsistency but then I put it back there where I don't see it. There are too many good memories in our husbands' cards, I can't deal with thinking they're all parts of timelines we'll never get to live as canon MC.
