Everai
I take my jug of wine And sit beneath the twin sisters Forlorn shadows Merging with my melancholy. They seem especially bright tonight, Bright like your sparkling eyes That I remember On Theta 7 When we held metal shrouded hands In the airlock of our mining bay. I named the first moon Everai, To remind me of you. I am the second one Trailing you across the pink sky. This potent wine Cannot subdue The uneasiness gripping me As I wait Under the sisters For the shuttle That will lift me to you.
Homecoming
And when you came
I cried.
I cried for distance
between two lovers
For time
that hid in the shadows
wasted.
Cried of joy
for your touch
your warmth
your wisdom
for you.
I drink now of your water
and swim in your ocean
knowing I am yours
forever.
The Weight
I grow weary of the rain
and the constant payment it demands
The sound that once comforted,
stimulated
Is an echo
a reminder
of the journey's length.
I try to count the raindrops
Years of loneliness
Clinging to the window
The rain is tears
My body wrapped in bedsheets
The room frozen
With time.
I force myself to breathe
To stay alive
For the spirit is gone
but my brain is stronger than my heart
and knows of a better future
That I cannot feel.
Mankind
Take time Study yourself Can you see Will you look Deep inside? Or do your thoughts only penetrate the mirror's surface lost in the race of greed and comfort. Beneath your eyes buried in grey are feelings of good, bad, happy, sad, carefully hidden, once forgotten.
