Prayer That Got Me Kicked Out Of Church

Lord, I beg you to take every woman's
imposter syndrome and give it to the
mediocre men being horrible to her instead.
Please Lord, Eve's daughters have done
their best to heal, but some of Adam's sons
could use some goddamned work. I am tired
of watching women I love crumble under
the weight of shame that was never ours
to carry. I want them to have their roses
whilst they are still living, does your sacred
understand that, Lord? Do the prayers of
women reach you the same way as the
sermons of men? When you punished
Eve for taking the apple, did you even ask
if she was just hungry? A woman needs
nourishment as much as she needs air.
In fact, Lord, I think you may not be hearing
me. Bring out your wife, your mother,
your daughter. So I can speak to someone
who actually listens instead.
