This has to be a vocal minority thing or something, but man, it just feels like every time I check out a Sylus fic, I'm slapped in the face with the daddy kink like a wet fish that I did not order.

I don't need a sexy parent to handle my apartment expenses for me. I need a guy to calmly reload my gun before handing it back to me during a fire fight.

Maybe its a sign of the current times. Maybe I'm just feeling a little sensitive recently. Maybe the Venn diagram of people who write fiction and people who think Sylus' thing is babysitting is more broadly overlapping than previously known.]]>

i was thinking about it this morning as I considered organizing my screenshots for another webpage update and:

the reason I like Sylus so much is that there's always (always) the trembling potential for violence.

a lot of side cards are fluffy sweetness, sure, but main story Sylus (and this latest idol card also brings it to the fore) deals with his problems by painting nearby objects in blood spatter. if he can't buy it, play with it or step over it, he just erases it.
it's neck and neck for me sometimes with Caleb and Sylus but at the moment Sylus is on top because his amorality (when he's allowed to display it) is incredibly attractive to me.

best part is, he wants you with him. he's all in or he's all out. Sylus is not looking for forgiveness, doesn't even understand the word. he's not looking for you to look past his flaws or excuse his actions or knuckle under the pressure he exerts. He's not looking for a girlfriend or wife; he's looking for you to dig your fingers into his throat and give him a worthy necklace of bruises.

Sylus isn't going to deck you in jewels because he wants to buy you. he's going to deck you in jewels he ripped wholesale from someone else and that are still dripping - and he wants you to lick them clean.

Sylus almost always has the chain motif going on - finally got the dance number in his card to not stutter-frame its way through the whole thing so I'm busy grabbing screenshots and:

i have about 15 pulls left for the guaranteed 5* which i will no doubt lose but i will be strong and persevere. maybe Farspace Bloomfall will come home to me? dare i hope?  when i get home tonight after work, i'll sit down with a lucky cup of coffee and finish the pull until Nurse BossMan comes home to me.

in further news, i threw in the couple of tickets i saved from the previous banner and bought some cheap ones to ease the strain on the diamonds and got Whalefall Lament out of nowhere! i felt super smug :D  Rafayel, you are my favorite. every time i think about your entire... thing... i rub my hands with angst glee.

P.S. The new main story chapter has brought a bit of confusion in the timeline because there might be conflict between how they treat each other (which will easily place them in the timeline) and what info she learns (which would retcon what she knew in all the cards that technically took place after it). It's nothing deal breaking as far as I've seen, but I might be biased because I knew the entire story before reading the new main story section. You'll tell me since you'll go in proper order.
