Just to advise that I made the error of hunkering down over Ao3 in the last number of days to systematically go through everything sorted by kudo / completed / english and then "each month" since the beginning of last year so I would catch the most popular fics sorted by time, instead of overall kudo count.
It has been enlightening. I found some really solid little gems in there that I would not have found otherwise and I'm only halfway through.
I have also been up to 2am for the last three nights running, sucked in like an idiot so there's that as well.

EDIT: so far my favorite tag has been (mephisto is the real mvp of this fic)
