Okay, so I read your breakdown and then read the Pipsqueak guide, so let me see if I'm understanding this right. Looking at a few of the gold cores I have:
(ignore the protocore colors for now, I just want to understand the concept):
This would be a terrible core and I should get rid of it immediately (decompose, I assume, for materials?) because it's a mix of HP and DEF which is useless.
Because these are HP based and has both Crit Rate and DbW and Oath Strength, these are good cores and worth leveling IF I was running God of Tides OR Abysm Sovereign.
This last core is ATK based (3 stats) and Oath Strength which is acceptable, but its missing its last stat which could be anything. Worth leveling to +3 to see if the last stat comes in and is worth anything. This would be good for anybody except the myth companions that are not ATK based,
