your description of the fandom hype cycle made me grin out loud again. it do be like that, don't it? i might have clapped my hands giddily myself when girlfriend crawled over Sylus in the car, obvious murder in her heart.
there's in-game reasons the boys are separated, but the real answer is the genre we're playing. which i assume "everybody" knows but blows right past, heading straight for the problems inherent in trying to give the Watsonian explanation.
i am actually very grateful that the branching love interest paths do not conflict with each other or even acknowledge each other - i do not need to manage jealousy meters in my fun time. right now, our girlfriend is occupying five (soon to be six?) parallel timelines that are fairly close to each other in the space-time continuum but do not overlap and it should absolutely stay that way.
unfortunately tumblr's 'love and deepspace' tag is mostly full of "How He Cuddles You" and fanfiction of Caleb stapling you to a wall - i'm sure everybody means well but neither thing is all that compelling to me on a personal level. i want the juicy meta, damn it.
although i guess that bring us back... here. a little forum, with persistent posts and threads, separated out into easily digestible chunks, artfully divided into "here's how you play the game", "here's how i feel about the game" and "how much money do you think i can get away with stealing from the grocery budget this week before somebody notices".
