Should we pull for MOF?
Roughly a month ago I found this reddit post and I've been referencing it ever since because I do find it largely useful for someone who's not spending a lot of money to get all the myth pairs and max ranking them on top of it.
Short answer: while pulling for myth pairs is ALWAYS good because they're stronger than standard myth pairs and significantly stronger than regular pairs, some regular pairs (i.e. free pairs, since you get them by playing the main story or with regular card pulls) are so good that they can stand up head-high next to a limited myth pair, especially considering how much the second would cost.
In Zayne's case in particular, Arctic Zayne (regular pair) is so good that he laughs in the face of his standard myth pair (Foreseer), and can arguably stand next to MOF (limited myth) in terms of efficiency. Arctic Zayne is also one of the strongest regular pairs we have in the game.
In Xavier's case I'd tell you to go for Lumiere as soon as he's available again, and in the meantime try to get his standard myth pair even though everyone and their mother can tell you that he still sucks compared to other companion's pairs. His free companions suck even more. We know it, it's painful, but they decided to overboost Lumiere to the point where he can basically go in battles geared toward almost 20 levels ahead.
Raf's Abysswalker is ranked less in priority in the post despite how stupidly good he is because Raf's regular pairs are also very good. Which is true, but I still will vouch for Abysswalker forever and ever. His crowd control is unmatched, you can build him up to trigger Oath's resonance 3 times in a single battle, he boosts your damage and if you can wield the claymore it becomes a blood bathe.
For Sylus his standard and limited myths are advised. His free companions aren't THAT good in comparison.
For Caleb I'm biased because ever since I accidentally received Colonel (his standard myth) by randomly receiving both cards during pulls, I've been in love with his battle aesthetic. His oath's cutscene is a work of art. Very gimmicky, which makes the regular free pair (Pilot) better for most situations, but Colonel keeps on making me do a double take, damn him. Still, in battles that favor red stellactrums Arctic Zayne is often the better choice.
