But the "I won't fall for it again" half sounds like he's talking about himself, like maybe they used that smell again to drug him and get him, OR that MC herself was used as bait and so he's telling himself he won't fall for it again. We don't know because we don't remember. How convenient.

But! Either way, aside from our personal involvement, the other question is: why would Ever capture a lemurian?
