Fallen Crown
#9

Found a streamer (Lavender has uploaded the myth, so I'm switching there) who watched the myth, so I'll be putting here my reactions.

SPOILERS AHEAD

Where Stars Scatter

Chap 1

- Ok first question we need to answer is: When are we. Are we watching the sequel to Xav's standard myth like we watched the sequel of God of Tides?

- We're slumbering in the darkness it seems, until we are summoned as The Chosen One.

- Bishop: "We will return to Philos, prior to the Apocalypse"
Where are you if not on Philos. Are we talking about Philos the planet? Philos the city capital on the planet Philos in the galaxy Philos?

- The NPC voice acting is... what we usually expect it to be lol

- Xavier is a Tyrant and a Mad King, and the sinner who destroyed Philos huh. Also, time to comment how much I love the gold and black palette we're going for with this myth. Absolutely stunning.

- Sindersfell is something straight out of Dark Souls by the way lol. Fromsoftware fans would revolt if they new their vibe was being used in an otome mobile game lmao

- Oh okay we didn't actually get summoned from nothing, we were washed ashore and were basically in a coma.

- So we have undead revenants trying to reawaken so they can return to Philos, and Xavier is instead going around killing them all lmao. Oblivious fans might think this is dark!Xavier but nope, this is his canon self 100% lol

- "Part of me feels as if we're not meeting for the first time" The question is if she's remembering past/alternative lives, or if she's actually remembering a linear past into Xav's standard myth. And he doesn't recognize us, interesting.

---

I...just looked at the text message Xav sent me and there's a theater play they're going to watch, The Dusty Crown and Epic. It entirely looks like the myth is that play but with the characters swapped with our MC and LI. "Based on various historical legends, the play follows Alsalan, the final monarch of a fictional dynasty."

Hm, let's see if they incorporate the myth into the Philosian canon time with Xavier, or if it's an actual alternative timeline they're watching as a play.

Chap 2

- Philos fell after a war, and then it fell into darkness and the revenants took over or something. "They must pay the price for pursuing eternity." In general? Or in the context of what brought the war specifically?

- Random revenant: "How was I slain? I can't remember... It could've happened on the battlefield. Or those monsters that bite people..." Wanderers?
Xav stopped the revenants from returning to the Land of the Light and Eternity. Is this what happens if one tries to stop immortality while living on Philos? They become undead?

- The revenants are nice, by the way lol. I actually like them.

- lmao I have to say I'm enjoying this MC. She's embodying "what the fuck is going on what the fuck are you on why the the fuck am I here" pretty well.

- "You said their fate is in your hands. However, you're still in my hands." Xavier knows about the transitive property, what a smart boy.

- So the curse of the revenants might have been just a random revenant cursing him out on the regular. It doesn't appear like it's a big villain who trapped him in this cycle.

Chap 3

- Oh! Story time, tell me all oh mighty king.

"The Order of Lightseekers fought until they breathed their last breath.
In the year XXXXX of the Philos Calendar, the Kingdom fell. The royal capital was destroyed, and the royal bloodline was extinguished."
Is it because by feeding people into the planet and making them turn into Wanderers, at a certain point there were more Wanderers than people?

- MC asks if her name is also among the Knights that fell. "Philos didn't meet its demise until I was "gone" for many years. For those who once knew me, I must've died early." Now why and how should she know that. "If I wasn't an exiled prisoner, then someone should have remembered me. It's possible they made a memorial." That's a bold assumption she's making on a past she supposedly does not remember?

Ouch on the sentence about not being remembered being the same as having never lived.

- When MC's fingers touch the water, she starts seeing memories. The entire boat passage is very Styx River coded, including the oblivion part. We're seeing Xavier in his Lightseeker clothes as...he's being crowned?
"The rebel army storms the capital. They force the young king to take his own life. Yet their swords are melted into liquid steel in the furnace and cast onto the throne itself.
Peace is restored to the Kingdom a century later.
The knight, once adored by thousands, is now reviled. He is nothing more than a "mad king."

Still not entirely convinced we're seeing the actual sequel to his standard myth. Especially because there's still no mention of MC being queen. It might be an alternative branch where Xav never left Philos and was crowned King.

- "You have my permission to stay here. Though, we need a relationship that binds us since we'll be together for a long time." Ok Xavier??

The revenants' chants are truly eerie, good job sound design team!

- He makes her mushroom soup and she immediately starts hallucinating and faints. Hm, Xavier???
I need to know if these memories are from an alternative future to his myyyyyyyth!

- Great scene with Xav tending to a poisoned MC.

- Ok so he does remember the MC from his past. Not sure whether he recognizes her now or if he's just lying.

- You need to find a way to make a flower bloom.
OOOOOOH HUGE callback to another LI's myth! That's interesting. I hope it won't cause drama in the fandom lol

Chap 4

- More lore from the Bishop and the underground library!
"In the beginning, the energy needed to extend the planet's lifespan was almost depleted. Beasts called Wanderers grew increasingly violent and occupied most of the planet."
"After two hundred years of silence, a young woman with not a drop of royal blood ascended the throne." And this should be MC once she was crowned by Xav before he left. "Under her rule, Philos reclaimed its former glory for a time. This period would later be called the "Morn Era."
"Her life and fate were seemingly erased by an invisible hand. There is nothing but a blank void."
"The last monarch of Philos was an undefeated arbiter of judgment. Yet he was the Tyrant who supposedly led the Kingdom to its demise."
/scratches head
Did Xav come back from his time travel? Or is this an alternative future branch where he never left? But his reign came before that of the queen MC is reading about, so I'm inclined to think it's not her first reign.

- The mushroom bit I think is a callback to...his card in the spring banner? I can't remember exactly, but I remember people making memes about him and mushrooms.

Chap 5

- Melancholic Revenant is giving it his absolute all with the voice acting.

Did... Did MC find out about Philos eating people and decided to sacrifice herself? Is that why she disappeared?

"Her sacrifice was nothing more than an insignificant grain in the sands of time."
OK so I think she did actually sacrifice herself, and then Xavier came back to her already dead. Or something.
The memories she hallucinated had Xavier being crowned, and then I believe in another memory he told the knights that he was going to meet her (MC), but they might have been shown to MC in the wrong order, and she was seeing his memories not hers, so it's possible the coronation happened when MC was already dead.

Ferryman: "You keep her close. Are you afraid she'll recognize you? Or are you afraid she won't?"
OOOH????? I'm not surprised about Xavier, I'm surprised about the Ferryman! WHo are you sir!!!

Meanwhile we're off weaving hundreds of flower crowns for the revenants. I have to say, they're way more likeable than Romirro citizens.

Oh? Are we remembering things on our own?
Flashback to her coronation.
Jeremiaaaaaaaaah!!!

"The Aether Core within your heart can save Philos from destruction..."
Yep there it is.

Then I guess we have another vision which is older than the one where we're asked to sacrifice ourselves, because Xavier is in it, so it must be around coronation time.

Chap 6

Xavier wakes up and seems to confirm the timeline I was thinking about.

- "I followed my teacher into battle, journeyed the starry sea. When I returned, you were gone."
"So much happened during those 300 years in your absence."
She really took her sweet time, huh.

- Xavier's voice is so soft here and so different from the past chapters. Good job VA!

"Back then, it was just like this. I thought my intentions were clear. Why didn't you understand them?"
Xavier I'm sorry, MC was a little dumb in her past life, it happens.

Oh no, now he's the one bringing up the past when MC lied and told him she had feelings for someone else and he still believes her. Please you were going so well myth, stop right here!

"Forget him."
Nice voice, but please stop with this misunderstanding AGAIN.

"Instead of retreating, he stubbornly kisses me."
And there it is our Xavier <3
Ok stop, Xav stop, Xav stop breathing like that, Xav, XAV!

Chap 7

I have no notes for this chapter beside: I wish I could draw the Tree of Life. So cool.

Also very nice new idle animation.

New Flashback of Xav's memories in MC's head and he's at her tombstone and he says "I couldn't find you"
So now I'm thinking of those fans who interpret that line from the very first voiceover of the game very literally. Where it says "lost target" or something like that, some fans take it to mean "lost the arrival target" hence they end up on Earth at the wrong time. But others mean it in the opposite sense "lost the starting point of reference" so they are unable to find Philos (and Xav is unable to find Queen MC) again. The line he says here seems to work with that interpretation.

Chap 8

I find his parallel to Raf very interesting.
Raf feels responsible for his people and while he does not agree with the "kill your beloved to ascend to godhood or watch your civilization crumble" narrative, he still actively tries to lead them.
Xav on the other hand feels no sympathy for his subjects, and would happily watch the entire planet die.

"Who were you planning to give that flower to?"
MC YOU WERE DOING SO WELL AKSDKAJSDLASKJDLKASJD

Oh the sparring scene is lovely <3

The tree!
Dark souls vibes intesify
And...the tree talks. Fine, everything's fine.

"To truly save those trapped in eternity, one must return to the correct divergence point and create new possibilities"
Yes! That's exactly what we were thinking. This myth is one of the possible futures, specifically one that Xavier is trying to prevent. I don't think Xavier has memories of this though, because technically in this myth he returned after she was crowned queen and then died, whereas in the main story he's still trying to change the course of their fate. Unless that was Traceback I and Traceback II is after this myth. But I don't think that's the case.

OH! "From that moment, the two of us and the planet we inhabited created different tributaries of fate."
So it's like we're watching MC's, which is the one that is a dead end. And Xavier's current one in the main story should potentially be the correct one.

"Even you shall become an unknown variable."
Once again direct callback to the very same LI I mentioned before! Damn.

And we choose to go back to the divergent point and collapse this thread of reality!

Chap 9

Epic battle is epic.

And then the kindled scene <3
Damn I might have to pause for dinner right at the last chapter. THE PAIN

That transition with the DOOM sound effect. Cinematic perfection.

/gasp
kid Xayxay!!! oh my god

Isahia!!! Jer!!! Traceback I!!!! Soren!!! Oh my god they're dropping ALL the lore right now

Oh <3
So it's not like the myth is a possible future, it's been already counted in the current flow of events. That was the future that actually happened until MC decided to turn back time, letting us arrive at the Xavier who decided to travel to Earth in order to save MC.

[I somehow missed when the Chap 10 started, oh well, this is the end]

Lovely lovely myth, extremely important to understand even the main story.
I'll go to dinner and then come back for more thoughts.

- Ok I'm back with thoughts, although there aren't many.
I really liked the myth, can't believe we got an overarching happy/hopeful open end since we loop back to the beginning of the main story. I love those plots were things go full circle. I liked MC, I liked Xav (but who had doubts?), I REALLY liked the ambient and the dark souls vibes. Colors and backgrounds were gorgeous. First Raf, now Xav, they're really creating magical worlds that are so different in their own right, you get sucked in for 2 hours and come back out wanting to dive right back in. Very good replayability, too, I can totally see myself enjoying a movie night where I rewatch this.
The Eng team must have upgraded their background sound for crowd work, it sounded a bit like we were listening to the audience at a concert, but hey, definitely better than those 5 people that used to scream in the mic in the most uncomfortable way to mimic a group. I have to say I don't remember any voice actor so bad that it slapped me out of the story, so I'm overall very satisfied with that, too.

EDIT: Man I went through the myth again and Xavier's VA went OFF with the chuckles and little laughs. He's truly a master at that, my god.
EDIT2: Is...Is the Tree also Xav's mother??????? Do they have the same voice????
EDIT3: Wavyleaf sea lavender is a mistranslation apparently, it should be Forget-me-not (which...makes lots of sense) https://www.reddit.com/r/LoveAndDeepspac...sentative/

I also think it's very possible the next myths we'll get will be: 1) with long hair, and 2) direct sequels of one of the past myths. I'm very scared of what this will mean for Sylus and Caleb lmao. Zayne not so much in that both his myths are totally welcoming for a sequel, so he just makes me curious.
I guess we'll have to wait and see.
