okay, this was *adorable* - i dinged 68 affinity with Xavier and earned myself a phone call.  the boy blacked out my entire street block because i stood around talking to a work colleague who walked me home.

i didn't know that 1) Xavier gets jealous and 2) he gets petty about it.

i was grinning at my screen this morning, let me tell you.

"Xavier, why did all the street lamps on my block burn out all at once?"

"I dunno."

I enjoy how this situation he creates somehow subverts what I would expect as natural consequence of "all the lights go out at once" which would be: MC and the colleague now have to get closer to talk because they can't see shit, or the colleague walks her home because now it's properly dark and it's safer and more appropriate to escort her to the door than leave her on the street even if they're right in front of her complex.
But in Linkon Xav can just turn off the lights and the result is that the party is over like a parent just pulled the plug on the stereo.

I mean, if all the streetlights just suddenly went out on my entire block and I was a Hunter in Linkon City, the first thing I would do is draw both guns while tersely instructing my Hunter colleague to check his Watch for the field strength we've just been hit with.

You are so right. I guess in my brain when both people are equipped to unalive a monster 10 times the size of an average human, what's left in these situations is at least the intention of gallantry. That they both shrug and stop talking should have convinced Xav there was absolutely no romantic vibe going on, which makes his jealousy even pettier.
