over the course of time, stuff will change. you will think to yourself - was that there before? wasn't there something here in this blank spot? why did i get a very scary looking ?php error trying to log in?

that will be me. in the background. spelunking through 1500 templates and occasionally attacking an actual load file with a chainsaw. changing one shade of pink to a different, slightly peachy sort of pink.

there are SO many template files in this baby. the background of something is in one of them. the font choice is in another. a third controls the extra effects, like dropshadows. its organized, i'll give it that, but i really should be taking notes.

I know the drill, spent many years in the past arguing with forum's home pages and what not. The trend at the time was having a big header image and then a table filled with absolutely useless but cute info in the smallest font you could find. It was all vibes. My god, the memories lol

Going back to this baby here: do we have the plugin for spoilers in posts?

i'll check!

(two minutes later)

not natively, but there's a plugin for it. will peruse tonight and see how complicated it is and how many pages will break when i try and install it.

testing spoiler code

[hide]This is something I want you to put effort into in order to read it[/hide]

This is something
aka a spoiler
in the middle of a sentence.

eh, it works but its very unglamorous.

/fucks with the code some more
huh. why did the second instance work but not the first?

what if i add
another sentence with
a hidden thing in it? okay, edits seem to work, maybe the first one is just borked from the original code.

padding padding
how to get some
padding in this thing.

testing
like a mofo
here.

Okay, this is not a plugin because why complicate things, but an addition to the MYCODE built into the board. It does NOT come up in the New Reply or Full Edit helpful bar because its special added - you have to use the proper [..hide..] [../hide..] code right in your message to make it work (minus the dots of course).

good? let me know if not good or if you want something with more flexibility.

i am going to change the code from

Code:
[spoiler] to [hide] and [/hide]

because its less characters to type

i have finally found some javascript code that works (ie, plays nice with the forum templates) for putting up a new image on the front page that doesn't need me to change it by hand every so often.

its technically possible that it will pull the same picture twice since random is random but if today is also quiet at work, i will start jamming in 500 or so of the best screenshots into a pull list so that will be less of a problem.

/flips pictures, no no yes yes yes maybe okay sure no yes yes yes...

That's a very effective way of making me click the homepage every few minutes. Smart strategy.

booyah, last issues sorted out by forced application of third party plugin to force this dumb thing to accept PHP includes, and voila, all the background wallpapers are in and rotating like mofos.

back to doing some real work, and then I'll tackle the card backgrounds and THEN the... *squints*... 1345 actual game screenshots.
