Top up Center from Infold's website
#1

We know that they now have the top up store directly on their website, so you can buy aurum pass, weekly and limited banner packages, as well as purple diamonds right from their store instead of in-game. This has the immediate advantage of not alerting your bank because instead of X number of very small transactions, you can fill your cart with everything you need and just pay once. The second advantage is that American players will see lower prices from the website since they don't have to add taxes to it or something.
But then it goes even further. Maybe you're travelling and have conveniently decided to take a trip to a country that has a very convenient exchange rate with your currency. In that case the infold shop will give you the currency of the location your IP is set to, with all the packages etc. sensibly cheaper than what you're used to.
It feels like an exploitable loophole, but I don't know how infold could prevent this. Can you stop someone from playing your game unless their IP shows that they are in the same continent they registered the account in (and even then, Europe goes a bit wild with the different exchange rates for the countries that haven't adopted the euro)? Can you stop them from travelling and accessing your website from another IP? Should you lock the price at the IP shown during the registration process?

I've been trying to make a spreadsheet where I compare currencies, and it's tricky because sometimes I manage to get the shop with X currency, and sometimes it reverts back to USD. It's confusing.
As of now it seems like for things that cost €0.99 then Thailand is the place to go (a whole 23 cents saved), but for everything else the USD shop is more convenient.

... i don't think i want to shop in Thailand for $0.23 in savings. i mean. that's not even couch change anymore.

It all depends on how often you pay those 23 cents, and if you are someone who would even mind that kind of change.
For me, if I saved across packs consistently enough I could use the spare to buy a whole stack of golden tickets during a banner. It's like "buy 3 at the price of 2"
EUR to USD also has a pretty sensible difference. Some packs are 4-5 euros more expensive than their USD counterparts. One top up is 17 euros more expensive than if bought with dollars. I paid the equivalent of 20 dollars to get the Lumiere pair during his rerun, and here I would be sinking that amount just because of exchange rates.
Sure, I'm not going to starve if I ignore this, but it's the principle of the thing.

i would not miss any level of $0.23 savings, or even four or five dollars but you are so correct that its the principle of the thing and i retract any statement or implication that edged in that direction.

i don't think i would ever buy a "big" pack of anything out of this game, mostly because I would feel pretty slimy internally for dropping anything i would consider 'serious money' on an incredibly predatory business model. $20 doesn't even buy lunch anymore! so i have no moral qualms about spending what i do spend (aurum pass, cheap golden tickets) on a per month basis as entertainment money, but man, miss me for the $75 buy-in level, that's messed in the head. I could have a nice dinner with someone else on that kind of outlay and it would include a beer.

not like i've never been tempted, to be fair, just... not for this game. and i've never actually caved, but at the same time my purity of purpose is kinda stained at the hem so i'm kinda preaching out the side of my mouth here because sometimes.. just sometimes, that bling looks awful good and anything that smacks of 'a deal' might the impetus to topple over that moral cliff that i hold so dear.
