At 0:30 he walks over hand-written pages. It's something written in Greek.


A fan decided it was time to translate them. This is the paper on the right: 

"if i fall to oblivion, call out to me,

call me out from the depths of the sea.

close my exhausted eyes, and gift to

me the eternal fire of vengeance.

if i fall to oblivion.

if . . . oblivion." 

Sounds familiar? 

Only we never got to listen to the entire passage in the myth, which is instead written on that paper! It was there the entire time!

And this is the paper on the left: 

"City in ruins kingdom in collapse.

Divine protection was overthrown,

while the ancient prophecy sounded

again ——

What is born of love,

is ultimately buried with love."

(It should be noted that "love" is specifically erotas, passionate romantic/sexual love)

We already know that prophecies/legends/songs about Lemuria echo real events and dialogues between our characters. What we learn was the Siren's Ballad (from Raf's opera anecdote) ended up being what MC recited as she imprisoned Raf at the bottom of the ocean in the myth, thousands and thousands of years before that song was even written, probably. 

And most of all, the fact that those pages are hand-written and scattered on the floor that Raf walks over seems to imply that he does remember that time, at least in fragments.

Theory: in the WU text you read about Raf, it was mentioned that he suffers from nightmares (it's also mentioned in a few cafè lines and I think in a Secret Time?). What if that's how he has access to his past lives, through memories fragmented in dream scenes?

not at all unprecedented -- the Witch storyline comes ostensibly from a dream, does it not? and Dawnbreaker is accessed through Zayne's dreams and seems to even function as a personality swap during the length of time of the dream.

do you sometimes get the impression that while we're often talking about "past" and "future" and "now", that they're all just layers on top of each other and the girlfriend is the spike through them they're all revolving around, which allows this kind of bleed through / transfer?

MC often accesses her past memories in dreams and very brief hallucinations/flashbacks, but Zayne was pretty much the only LI explicitly looking at another reality through his dreams. That Raf can dream of his past is still only a theory, he might literally just have those memories with him.
