I definitely do about all the random old people in every cutscene and myth because they always turn out to be shady and the villain lol Some streamers even joke about labeling as the big villain the first old person they see in the myth and then wait to see if they're right (they usually are).
Funny thing is that I totally did not recognize the Ferryman as the Teacher from the Academy until he told us, even though I had his face in front of me the entire time.
- Apocalypses always seem around the corner with MC. Put a pin on it.

I just played Chapter 3 in the Event for Fallen Crown and... what, hey? Xavier came back at some point while she was in the middle of being Queen and offered again to take her away, to elope? and she refused and he left, presumably never to return?
there's a bunch of implication in this Chapter, that's for sure. that Xavier may be banished, that his presence uncalled for in front of the Queen is an act of rebellion (which puts him on the side of the 'rebels'), that people are started in vanish under the rule of the Queen, that she is at odds with her Council but they're wearing her down....

Yeah. This is the dead end branch that MC will end up erasing, so it went differently from current timeline Xav. That Xav came back after MC was crowned, then disappeared somewhere and finally came back once she was already dead and ascended the throne in her stead. This Xav we know and love instead never came back after leaving with Traceback II.
Both in this myth timeline and the one we ended up seeing as the first myth call Xav a rebel/traitor because he's seeing MC again. In the original myth (the one he ends up living as the Xav that will reach Earth) he would be considered a traitor by the other Backtrackers because he was meeting Queen MC alone. In this myth with the alternative branching future, he would be considered a rebel in general because he's seeing Queen MC without an officially scheduled appointment. It could be a way of echoing both myths and point how his decision to stay close to her wouldn't be seen favorably either way.
I still can't see enough links to the fact that he was at the head of the rebel army that stormed the castle.
Lots of background info on how difficult her reign was though!

yeah, my strongest impression on the one little chapter was that the Council of Elders (or whatever they were actually called) was trying really hard to keep the Queen penned in and ineffective while they made all the decisions and ran the show. And Xavier told her to not play into that and remember that she was the one in charge, but i have a feeling she didn't take that to heart and ended up as a figurehead.. until they convinced her to go throw herself into the Maw at the end.

I think that was the biggest issue (if we can call it that) Xav had with the second reincarnation of MC he meets: she just went with the flow and followed what the higher ups around her told her to do. In the other myth he also told her to not become a knight and elope with him and she just ignored him because that was her duty and she was doing what her teacher told her to do. Very much "If they say it's X then it must be good and true"

whereas Xavier himself, born a prince and under that pressure to confirm to society's expectations from birth, broke out of it when confronted by what it would actually cost to keep the status quo. and he paid a pretty hefty price for it as he walks this unending path where he knows that even if he gets what (we presume) he wants, he may not end up the winner and she never comes back to him.
its interesting, in an overview kind of level. i kind of always assumed the girlfriend would forever pick her boyfriend over everything and anything else, but that is actually not the case, is it? and when she doesn't, it (so far at least) seems to lead to disaster. then again, it always leads to disaster.

Xavier's other myth is definitely an example of MC not choosing to stay close to her LI till the end. But it's a pretty special situation because since Xavier is not a reincarnation per sé (and until this current myth we had no idea multiple timeline branches were even possible for him) we needed a reason to get him on Earth and lovey-dovey with current MC. Which by the way regularly generates a new wave of "he actually loves her/he left queen MC and fell in love with someone else"
You'll see in the other myths what other possibilities there are for our poor starcrossed lovers.
P.S. can't remember where I saw this comment (probably youtube) but the "let's elope" in the first myth with Xavier was actually "let's run away" in Chinese. It would have made MC immediately aware of his feelings otherwise, and it justifies Xav complaining that she never understood his intentions and that he needed to be more direct in this myth.

i've started to play Fallen Crown for myself now that I have some time and grab all the screenshots I wanted, but I'm only two chapters in and 102 screenshots later and wow, some of these are ah-mazing. i had already forgotten how beautiful some of this stuff was/is and how gorgeous our Dark King ended up being.

Also, I request, no, I demand a screenshot with Xav and your MC from kindled 1. It's right after they kill the wanderer I think, there's a moment where Xav makes the horse turn and you get a gorgeous shot of Xav and MC looking to the side while on the horse.

i didn't realize it until this shot, but she's got glitter/diamonds on her face, as well as that forehead stamp of either approval or ownership. its so lovely!
i was working on a person for Xavier yesterday but wasn't completely sold on what i ended up with. maybe i will load her in and try and get this screenshot again and see if i like her better in-context.
